Projects will be funded to a maximum of $8,000; the typical range of a Vredenburg Scholarship is between $5,500 and $6,500. The Scholarship may be used to defray the costs of tuition, travel, living expenses, and other reasonable expenses associated with the international experience. Financial need will not be a factor in selection of the scholars and funding of the proposals. However, students with demonstrated financial need may be eligible for an additional stipend.
Applications for the Vredenburg Scholarship are available in 126 NEB and at the link below. Proposed projects must have an appropriate academic component. Applicants must submit a justification for the requested funding, detailing their projected expenses for the summer.
Applicants are encouraged to make alternate summer plans in the event that they are not awarded a Vredenburg Scholarship.
The Office of Academic Affairs has contact information for past participants who are willing to share their advice and experiences. Contact Steph Schreckinger at stephs@jhu.edu for this information, or stop by 126 NEB.
